New: Algonquin College Introduces its Real Estate Salesperson Program

If you've ever dreamed about turning your ambition into a career in real estate, there's a new way to make it happen.

Algonquin College has officially launched its Real Estate Salesperson Program, approved by the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO). This means you can now complete the education required to become a licensed real estate professional, with the flexibility to learn on your schedule, no matter where you are.

Real Estate Salesperson Program at Algonquin College

The Real Estate Salesperson Program is required to become a registered real estate professional in Ontario with the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO). The program includes a series of courses and exams that cover foundational knowledge, real estate essentials, and key legal and ethical responsibilities.

The Pre-registration Phase includes five self-paced online courses and two interactive simulation sessions. Each course is followed by a theory-based exam, except for course 5. Once the Pre-registration Phase has been completed, you can apply to RECO for registration and begin trading in real estate.

Real Estate Broker Program at Algonquin College

If you're thinking long-term, there's more: a Real Estate Broker Program is scheduled to launch in fall 2025, designed for those who want to level up or pivot into a leadership role in the industry.

This program is developed by the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO), intended for experienced salespeople who want to manage, open, or take ownership of a brokerage. Learners will build business management and leadership skills while gaining the regulatory knowledge needed to oversee real estate transactions and ensure compliance within a brokerage.

"We're here to help people get the training they need to thrive in today's real estate world," says Julie Beauchamp, Senior Vice President, Academic at Algonquin College. "These programs were built with RECO's guidance to make sure learners are ready to hit the ground running."

You can learn more about studying real estate on the Algonquin College website, or in this short video:

Let's break it down:

  • Fully online: Learn from anywhere. Perfect if you're working or just need flexibility.
  • RECO-approved: You'll graduate with credentials that meet Ontario's official licensing requirements.
  • Built for real-world success: Courses are designed with industry input, so you're gaining the skills and knowledge that matter most.

"We want future real estate pros to have choice," says Joseph Richer, Registrar at RECO. "Adding Algonquin means more access to high-quality education across the province."
